News coverage:
My heart broke for my cousin last night as she lost her baby boy. I can’t even begin to imagine the pain she is suffering right now. We sat in the hospital, prayed and prayed but God still called her 16 year old son home. Seeing his father pull a brush out of his pocket and tearfully brush is son’s hair one last time was one of the saddest yet most beautiful things I’ve ever seen. They lost their baby boy to a senseless act of gun violence…he was a good kid and deserved to show the world all the good he could do. Unfortunately, his opportunity was taken away by a coward with a gun! I plead with you, people PLEASE stop letting this be okay in our communities!!! MEN, please step up and tell these young boys that having and shooting a gun does not make them a man, but a coward. Show them how to resolve their issues without resorting to violence! EDUCATORS please add conflict resolution to your curriculum, it’s needed. PARENTS please take control of your own households and start checking your kids rooms for guns or anything else they should not have and take it away! FATHERS, please start taking interest in your sons lives. Teach them how to be responsible young men. Show them that you love them. So many are hurting because they don’t know the love of their fathers. They don’t value other people’s lives because they feel as if their own lives are of no value. LAWMAKERS, please stop making it so easy for a person to purchase a deadly weapon. I get it, we have a right to “bare arms” but who are we baring arms against??? We can’t bare arms against the government or police so the only people left to legally bare arms against is a fellow common citizen. Stop making it okay for people to kill people! MY COMMUNITY, please stop turning a blind eye. Someone knows who did this to my little cousin. TURN THEM IN!!! Don’t turn a blind eye to it because the next victim may be someone you love, your child, father, brother, sister or mother. This has been going on in our community for too long now. It’s time for it to STOP!!! We must all work together to make it stop!!! R.I.P. lil cousin Bill…We love you!!!
