February 2019 was a significant month in Tysheem Pennock’s life.
First, his daughter Allure was born on Feb. 16, 2019. And two days later, Tysheem turned 20 years old.
Tysheem’s family noticed a major shift in him after the birth of his daughter.
“It changed him dramatically,” his aunt Nicole Stone said. “When he was younger he had problems with his attitude, but when the baby came, he was totally different. He loved that little girl.”
But tragically, by the time Allure was 8 months old, she had lost both of her parents to gun violence.
Her mother, Acacia Byrd, 22, was shot and killed Sept. 8, 2019 while driving her minivan in East Germantown. Less than two months later, on Oct. 25, Tysheem was shot and killed in the area of Greene Street and School House Lane in Germantown.
No arrests have been made in either case. The baby is in the care of Acacia’s mother.
“This is a lot,” Nicole said. “It’s horrible.”

Tysheem grew up in Germantown and graduated from Mastery Charter School – Pickett Campus.
“Tysheem was a loving young man,” Nicole said. “He was an honest young man. He might have made mistakes in life, but he was still a good person.”
She added: “He was trying to be a better everything—a better person, a better father, a better Muslim. But it was, I guess, too late.”
“What happened to Tysheem was a tragedy and we don’t want it to happen to anyone else. We just ask people to be careful and be mindful of where they are and who they’re with.”
Tysheem is survived by his mother, Natasha Pennock, father Todd McCoy, and siblings Tysheema Pennock, Tyjana Pennock, Tyjay Pennock, Monica McCoy and Todd McCoy, and his extended family.
A reward of up to $20,000 if available to anyone that comes forward with information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the person responsible for TYsheem’s murder. Anonymous calls can be submitted by calling the Citizens Crime Commission at 215-546-TIPS.
